Gracywoods celebrates the 4th of July on the 3rd in the Park!

Are you ready for the Fourth of July? Get in that patriotic mood by joining your neighbors in Gracywoods for our annual Fourth of July celebration in the park!

Our last year’s event was so much fun that we are going to do it again. This year, because the official holiday is on Sunday, we will have our gathering on Saturday morning, July 3rd, starting at 9 AM, where the Austin Electric power lines cross Bittern Hollow. This is a very kid-friendly, dog-friendly, and bring-all-your-family-and-friends-friendly kind of event. Come one and all and join the parade!

We will start at 9 AM with a bicycle-decorating session – we will have bicycle decorations, but feel free to bring your own decorations, too. At 9:30 AM, we will have a parade through the park along the creek that parallels Barchetta Dr. At 10 AM, back at Bittern Hollow, we will have live brass music provided by the same trombone quartet we had last year – the Vagabones from the Northridge Campus of Austin Community College.

We will also once again have a cupcake contest. Bring a batch of patriotic cupcakes and win a prize. Watermelon and lemonade will also be provided, but feel free to bring other items to share.

Below are some pictures from the event in 2009. Come join us and have a great time!

It’s a parade through the park!

Even Uncle Sam shows up.

It seems as if EVERYONE has a flag:

Everyone gets something good to eat and drink:

And the music will be great!

I hope to see you on July 3rd, 2010, at 9 AM!
